Planview AI FAQ
AI and Machine Learning Questions
What Artificial Intelligence features exist on the Planview Platform?
Planview scores the sentiment, or emotional tone, of comments, project status summaries, and other free text fields. We generate insights and recommend actions on projects, portfolios, objectives, and project staffing. We suggest improvements to descriptions, comments, and other user-supplied fields. We calculate statistics on work completion and use the resulting data to estimate completion of in-progress items.
What is Planview Copilot?
Planview Copilot is a generative AI assistant designed to access, connect, and provide visibility into your organization’s unique data intelligence. It enables natural language conversations with your enterprise data to gain insights, derive recommendations, and facilitate work-oriented actions.
What data does Planview use for AI and ML features?
Planview utilizes application content data such as project information, activities, tasks, comments, status fields, and related metadata to generate insights. This data is used solely to enhance your experience with Planview products.
Is my data used to train AI models for other customers?
No. Planview does not use your data to train or fine-tune models for other customers. When a model requires training, they are trained customer-by-customer, so your data is only used to improve the insights we deliver to you and your colleagues. In addition, we do not build or fine-tune foundation large language models with customer data, and neither will any model providers we employ.
How does Planview protect my data when using AI features?
We take several measures to protect your data:
- Data is encrypted in storage, transit, and backups
- Data used by sub-processors is immediately discarded after sending a response
- Sub-processors do not train on or analyze your data
- We review data-handling policies of sub-processors annually
- Our products comply with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and ISO 27701 standards
Does Planview remove personal information from data used for AI?
Yes, we strive to ensure data used for AI/ML does not include personal identifying information (PII) by:
- Excluding fields like IP addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses
- Stripping PII from comment fields and activity names when possible
- Using pseudonymization for use cases that involve user-level processing
In the case of Copilot, personal nouns may be sent to the LLM so that questions like “What is Joel T working on?” can be answered, even when the person’s complete or exact name is not provided.
Can my company opt out of AI/ML features?
Yes, you can opt out of AI/ML features by contacting your Planview Customer Service Manager. Please note that opting out will remove all AI and ML-driven features such as Planview Copilot and sentiment analysis from your product configuration.
What about cross-customer insights using my company data?
Planview generates cross-customer insights using aggregated, anonymized data to provide benchmarks and best practices, sharing these insights via our applications, blog posts, and white papers. You can opt out of cross-customer data processing while still benefiting from AI features that use only your data. To opt out, submit a request through the cross-customer consent form.
How long does Planview retain questions asked through AI assistants, including Planview Copilot?
Questions asked through Planview AI assistants (including Planview Copilot) may be retained along with model responses for quality-control purposes for up to six months.
